An after bath splash is an easy to make recipe that is also easy to create your own unique blend. You can store it in a plastic bottle or re-use an old pump mister bottle that has been well cleaned. Keep it in a cool, dark place. This recipe will last about four to six months if kept carefully. Discard immediately if it looks or smells 'off'.
You Need:
100 Proof Clear Alcohol like Vodka, Everclear or SD Alcohol
Floral Waters
Vegetable Glycerin
Essential Oils
Clean, coloured plastic/glass bottle
Pour everything into your bottle and shake. Splash it or spray it on your skin to feel refreshed and clean.
Some recipes:
Garden Delight
25% Alcohol
9% Vegetable Glycerin
33% Neroli Hydrosol
32% Lavender Hydrosol
0.6% Geranium Essential Oil
0.4% Lavender Essential Oil
Sweet Rose
25% Alcohol
9% Vegetable Glycerin
65% Rose Hydrosol
0.25% Rose Essential Oil
0.75% Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Can't Get Enough Lavender
25% Alcohol
9% Vegetable Glycerin
65% Lavender Hydrosol
1% Lavender Essential Oil
Citrus Heaven*
25% Alcohol
9% Vegetable Glycerin
50% Neroli Hydrosol
15% Lemon Hydrosol
0.25% Lavender Essential Oil
0.30% Sweet Orange Essential Oil
0.45% Grapefruit Essential Oil
* Citrus oils may be irritating to some. If in doubt do a patch test: place a drop of the oil on your inside forearm near the elbow and cover with a bandaid. Leave on for up to 24 hours and then remove the bandaid. If there is any sign of redness or rash then you are sensitive to the compound and should not use it.
Example
To make 60ml (2oz) of splash, multiply the percentage of each ingredient by 60 to get the amount, in ml, of each ingredient:
25% Alcohol x 60ml = 15ml
9% Vegetable Glycerin x 60ml = 5.4ml
65% Lavender Hydrosol x 60ml = 39ml
1% Lavender Essential Oil x 60ml = 0.6ml
Useful conversion rates:
1 tsp = 5ml
1 tbsp = 15ml
1/4 cup = 60ml
1ml = 20 drops
So in the example above, 0.6ml = 12 drops (20x.6)
